Is economics irrelevant in criminology? Why do people commit crime? Is it because they have nothing to live on or just because they like doing it? Why do people get involved in criminal acts in Ethiopia? Even though like in any other nation, crime in Ethiopia is influenced by both the economic and social factors, there is a need to know which factors dominantly affect the crime rate in the country. To study this, probit is used to estimate the model that shows the direction and the level of effects of the factors on the probability of committing crime.
